Polypodiaceae View in CoL subfam. Platycerioideae

Subfamily Platycerioideae B.K.Nayar View in CoL is an almost entirely palaeotropical group that includes about 70 species in the genera Platycerium View in CoL and Pyrrosia (PPG I 2016) View in CoL , which are sister to each other in all phylogenetic analyses of the family (e.g., Kreier & Schneider 2006). Platycerium andinum View in CoL is the only neotropical representative of this subfamily. Other paleotropical polypod genera (e.g., Drynaria View in CoL , Microsorum View in CoL , Goniophlebium View in CoL , Lepisorus View in CoL , and others) form several separate clades (radiations), and lack neotropical representatives ( Schneider et al. 2004).
