Range:— Southern Colombia to Bolivia (CO, LP, SC) and northern Argentina.
Ecology:— Very common; usually saxicolous or terrestrial on cliffs, road banks, and among rocks, rarely epiphytic, in humid and semihumid forest habitats; 1100–3500 m.
Notes: —Usually this species has broader, more strongly erose, paler rhizome scale margins compared to the rhizome scales of N. crassifolium , but this is often difficult to ascertain on old rhizome scales. Some plants have longer petioles compared to those of N. crassifolium .
