Range:— Central Peru to Bolivia (E, CH, CO, LP, SC).

Ecology:— Very common; saxicolous and terrestrial, rarely epiphytic, in humid forests; 950–2500(–3000) m.

Notes: —This is closely related to N. vittaria , which Tryon & Stolze (1993) considered to be conspecific. Niphidium anocarpos is characterized by its densely adpressed, ovate and obtuse rhizome scales.
