Range: — Costa Rica, Panama; Colombia to Guyana and Bolivia (CO, LP, SC).
Ecology: —Common; pendent epiphyte in montane rain forests; 800–1800(2450) m.
Notes: —This species is highly variable over its broad range, but is generally recognized by its broadly elliptic blades, widely spaced segments, and proximal segments that are abruptly reduced to a long-decurrent sinuate wing. It is most similar to L. flagellipinnata in Bolivia, but that species has longer segments (usually> 4 cm), more strongly ascending segments that are gradually tapered and attenuate at the tip, and rachises with dark sclerenchyma visible on both sides of the blades ( Labiak 2013). Lellingeria obovata , type from Bolivia, has been considered distinct by having shorter, relatively broader blades 6–10(13) cm long, but this proves to be an unreliable character.
