Range: — Ecuador, Peru (known only from the type), and Bolivia ( LP) .

Ecology: — Rare, known from a single Bolivian collection: Williams 2622 ( NY); epiphytic in elfin forests, punas; 3300 m (4500 m in Peru) .

Notes: —Related to Melpomene allosuroides , but with less revolute segments and usually lobed margins ( Lehnert 2013).

Melpomene jimenezii Lehnert, Amer. Fern J. 98(4): 227(–229), f. 5A-D, 7D. 2009. Range: —Eastern Peru and Bolivia (LP).

Ecology: —Rare, known from four Bolivian collections; epiphytic in elfin forests and moist montane forests; 3200–3500 m.

Notes: —Differing from most other species of the genus in lacking conspicuous hydathodes adaxially. Superficially similar to M. firma , which differs in having shorter, less densely hairs on the petioles, conspicuous hydathodes, and black costae abaxially.
