Galactodenia Sundue & Labiak, Syst. Bot. View in CoL 37(2): 340. 2012.

Galactodenia View in CoL comprises five species, all neotropical, and all but one exclusively in South America; only one species occurs in Bolivia. Two species, including G. subscabra View in CoL in Bolivia, were included in Terpsichore View in CoL Group 3 of Smith (1993); the remaining three species are recently described and relatively rare, narrow endemics ( Sundue et al. 2012). The genus ranges from Costa Rica to Colombia and Venezuela, south in the Andes to Bolivia. Characters of the genus include pendent fronds with thin 1-pinnate or slightly more divided blades, weakly developed hydathodes, absence of setae in all but one species, and 1-forked and 3-4-celled, translucent, tubular, glandular hairs all over the blades on both surfaces ( Sundue et al. 2010). In phylogenetic analyses, Galactodenia View in CoL is most closely related, and sister, to the clade that includes Lellingeria View in CoL , Melpomene View in CoL , and Stenogrammitis View in CoL ( Ranker et al. 2004, Lehnert et al. 2009, Labiak et al. 2010 a, Sundue et al. 2010, Sundue et al. 2012).
