Hydryphantes View in CoL (s.str.) bayeri Pisarovic, 1896

Species incerta

Discussion: This species was described from a single deutonymph. As pointed out by Lundblad (1962), the description is incomplete and does not allow for an appropriate taxonomic discussion, but available information suggests that it is identical with Hydryphantes planus Thon, 1899 . In his attempt of a redescription, based on adults from Silesia, Láska (1966) did not give characters that allow a separation of these two taxa and the differences in the shape of frontal shield, used as diagnostic characters in the key of Láska (1971) had been found variable within populations of H. planus ( Lundblad 1962) . As the holotype is lost, relationships of the two taxa remain unclear and H. bayeri must be considered a species incerta . Most records published under this name probably refer to H. planus .
