Georgella fimbriata Walter, 1925

Hydryphantes fimbriatus auct.

Material examined: Type series: NHMB 1383 - XIII/83, Algeria, coll. Gauthier; Oued Boudjemah, 0 8.04.1925, (1/0/0); NHMB 1334 - XIII/34, Algeria, Lac Fetjara, 20.06.1924 (0/1/0).

Description: (In all specimens, palps squashed, therefore no H values can be given) Frontal shield anterolateral extensions directed anteriorly, their tips on the same level as the tip of the anteromedial projection, frontal eye near base of this projection; ratio total L/medial L 1.9-2.2, total L/ W 1.0 -1.2. Medial margin Cx-III+IV not straight due to Cx-IV slightly projecting over Cx-III; swimming setae number range as given for G. helvetica . Genital flaps indented in, or slightly anterior to, centre of genital flaps; these on each side with 27-32 acetabula and ca. 30 fine setae. Chelicera L/H 3.3-3.5, basal segment/claw 1.9. Palp seta numbers P- 1-4 3, 12 -15, 8-12, 3; P-2/4 L ratio 0.73. Males: Idiosoma L/W 2200/1800; frontal shield total L/ medial L/W 600/320/510: Genital flap L 380-400; gnathosoma L 330, chelicera L 460, palp segments P-1-5 L, 70, 150, 110, 205, 60. Females: Idiosoma L/W, 3000/2200; frontal shield total L/medial L/W 650/350/500; genital flap L 450; gnathosoma L 380, chelicera L 530, palp segments L 105, 190, 140, 260, 70.

Discussion: In view of the very low acetabula number (not found in any other species of the genus) the proposal of K. Viets (1930) to synonymize G. f i m b r i a t a with G. koenikei must be rejected. Georgella fimbriata is similar to G. h e l v e t i c a in the dimensions of the frontal shield, but distinguished by its strongly anteriorlydirected anterolateral extensions. In G. helvetica , the tips of these extensions end posterior to the level of the anteromedial projection.
