( Figs. 4–9 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ; 17)
Material examined. ECUADOR. Holotype female. Imbabura: Ƥ, Lita, 1901–324, 3000 ft. ( BMNH). Paratype 3, Coll. Nickerl ( NMCR).
Measurements. Total length: 14.1–15.4; head length: 1.7–1.8; head width: 2.6; pronotal width: 12.2–13.3; abdominal width: 8.0–9.3.
Body dorsally castaneous with a metallic green shine. Ventrally castaneous with thorax almost completely iridescent and abdomen with a metallic green shine in two lateral bands. Head in front of eyes reddish to castaneous. Fourth antennal segment as long as second plus third together; fifth missing. Anterolateral margins of pronotum rugulose, with long reddish stripe reaching humeral angles. Metapleuron with distal reddish spot. Metasternal process reddish, branches divergent, narrow, curved, and evanescent; anterior bifurcation almost completely excavated leaving free part of the branches long ( Figs. 8–9 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ).
Male genitalia ( Figs. 4–6 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ). Base of posterolateral angles of pygophore strongly tumid. Process of genital cup short, not reaching dorsal rim. Ventral rim deeply excavated; lobes very small and rounded quite close to and at same level of posterolateral angle. Paramere small, wrinkled, with small, narrow lobe dorsolaterally directed and another large, wide, and rounded lobe projected anteriorly. Segment X with posterior face sloping and uneven.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4 – 9 ). Gonocoxite 8 strongly convex with a compressed oblique area close to lateral margin giving a triangular appearance to plate in ventral view; inner margin slanting and imbricate. Laterotergite 8 castaneous with dark castaneous stripe close to inner margin. Gonocoxite 9 small, partially covered by gonocoxites 8. Laterotergite 9 subtriangular; base excavated.
Comments. This species can be recognized by the diffuse green metallic shine on the dorsal surface and the shorter humeral angle when compared with the two other species. The pygophore, parameres, and gonocoxite 8 are also peculiar and diagnostic. This species shares with E. splendens the reddish color of the head in front of the eyes; a longer stripe on anterolateral margins of the pronotum; a red spot on each metapleuron; the metasternal process deeply notched; the presence of a basal tumescence on the posterolateral angle of the pygophore; and gonocoxites 8 imbricate.
