Remarks: This species was described by De Marmels (1989) from Cerro La Neblina, Río Negro Department in Venezuela. De Marmels (2004) described the larva. Bota-Sierra (2014) reported H. bariai from Colombia (Meta Department) based on three males and one female. Here we report H. bariai from Amazonas, Caquetá, Guaviare and Vaupés Departments.

The males of this species are small (abdomen around 35 mm) with color pattern similar to H. falvidorsum , H. bickorum and H. mitratum mitratum . They differ from H. flavidorsum and H. m. mitratum because these two do not present ventrobasal convexity on cerci in mediodorsal view ( Figs. 9H View FIGURE 9 , 10H View FIGURE 10 ), and from H. bickorum by the distance between bifurcation of medial process and tip of cerci close to one third the length of cerci in H. bariai ( Fig. 7G View FIGURE 7 ), but close to half that distance in H. bickorum ( Fig. 8A View FIGURE 8 ). Females are also small (abdomen around 31mm) and very similar in color pattern to H. breweri ; they differ by the shape of basal teeth of valves in ventral view, rectangular in H. breweri ( Fig. 13E View FIGURE 13 ), but rounded in H. bariai ( Fig. 12H View FIGURE 12 ).
