KEY TO SPECIES OF BELLADESSUS

1. Anterior clypeal margin thickened and distinctly but weakly bordered; eastern Venezuela and Suriname ( Fig. 8 ) ............ B. femineus

1ʹ. Anterior clypeal margin strongly modified, flattened and prominently beaded ............... 2

2. Males present; male median lobe very broad and evenly curved in lateral aspect ( Fig. 2 ), slender and apically bifid in ventral aspect ( Fig. 3 ); basal elytral stria distinctly longer than basal pronotal stria ( Fig. 1 ); dorsal color pattern complex, including extensive maculations and fasciae, with dark brown along posterior margin of pronotum ( Fig. 1 ); Peru ( Fig. 8 ) ........................ B. soqtapata , new species

2ʹ. Males apparently absent; basal elytral stria similar in length to basal pronotal stria ( Fig. 7 ); dorsal color pattern simpler, restricted to a few larger maculae, entire pronotum yellow-orange ( Fig. 7 ); western Venezuela ( Fig. 8 ) ............. .................................................
