Macromotettixoides truncata Mao, Li & Han View in CoL , sp. n.
( Figs. 6–10 View FIGURES 6–10 )
Description. Female. Body medium sized for this genus. Head. Head not exerted above the pronotal surface, surface covered with granules. Vertex uneven with paired fossulae, a little contracted forward in dorsal view, 1.6–1.8 (mean 1.7, n=10) times as wide as one eye; anterior margin finely curved forward, slightly protruding beyond anterior margin of eye; anterior part of lateral carina somewhat folded upward; median carina only conspicuous and erected in anterior half; fastigium rounded in profile; frontal costa nearly straight or a little concave between lateral ocelli, frontal ridge protruding as arch between antennae, width of longitudinal furrow slightly less than width of first segment of antennae. Antennae filiform, 16-segmented, middle segments 4.7–5.8 (mean 5.0, n=10) times as long as wide, inserted between lower margins of eyes. Eyes globose. Lateral ocelli placed at middle of inner margins of eyes. Thorax. Pronotum tectiform, roof-like, disc covered with granules; mid-keel entire, upper margin slightly elevated with swollen base before shoulder and undulated behind shoulder in profile; anterior margin nearly straight; hind process approaching to knee of hind femora, apex truncated; humeral angle indistinct; prozonal carinae contracted backward; abbreviated carinae between shoulders short and expanded outwards; external lateral carina almost reaching 7/10 of lower margin of pronotum or middle of hind femur; lateral lobe of pronotum with posterior angle turning outwards, apex truncated, posterior margins with one concavity. Tegmina and alae extremely degenerated, both hidden beneath pronotum and externally invisible. The fore femur with lower edges slightly undulated, 3.4–3.8 (mean 3.7, n=10) times as long as wide; mid femora with lower edges slightly undulated, 3.3–3.4 (mean 3.4, n=10) times as long as wide; hind femur stubby, 2.6–2.7 (mean 2.6, n=10) times as long as wide, antegenicular and genicular denticles nearly right angled, dorsal part of hind tibia with 7 outer and 5 inner teeth, first tarsal segment of hind legs 1.9–2.0 (mean 2.0, n=10) times as long as third one, three pulvilli larger in turn and with apexes obtuse. Abdomen. Epiproct narrowly triangular, with pointed apex. Cerci with attenuated apex. Subgenital plate with posterior margin triangularly protruding in middle. Valves of ovipositor narrow, dentate; upper valve 4.8–5.0 (mean 4.8, n=10) times and lower valve 6.3–6.8 (mean 6.6, n=10) times longer than their maximum width.
Coloration. General coloration of body blackish brown with yellowish brown patches. Hind tibia dark brown, with light ring in the base. Abdomen with ventral side light black and distally yellowish brown.
Male. Slightly smaller than female. Vertex 1.6–1.8 (mean 1.7, n=10) times as wide as one eye. Antenna with middle segments 4.4–5.8 (mean 5.2, n=10) times as long as wide. The ratio of the length to width: fore femur 3.5–4.0 (mean 3.7, n=10), mid femur 3.4–3.7 (mean 3.6, n=10), hind femur 2.6–2.9 (mean 2.7, n=10). Subgenital plate short cone-shaped, apex bifurcate. Other characters same as female.
Measurements (mm). Length of body: female 10.2–10.7, male 9.5–9.8; pronotum: female 8.0–8.5, male 7.0– 7.1; antenna: female 3.1–3.2, male 2.8–3.1; hind femur: female 6.1–6.6, male 5.4–5.6.
Type material. Holotype, female, China, Yunnan, Yingjiang , 24°36.84’N, 97°39.39’E, 1336 m alt, 1 Oct. 2018, coll. Yu-Peng HAN, Miao LI and Ben-Yong MAO GoogleMaps . Paratypes, 14 females and 10 males, same data as holotype GoogleMaps .
Diagnosis. Macromotettixoides truncata Mao, Li & Han , sp. n. is similar to M. curvimarginus ( Zheng & Xu, 2010) , but it can be distinguished from the latter by the characters listed in Table 2 View TABLE 2 .
Etymology. The new species epithet ‘truncata’ means the hind process of pronotum is distally excised.
