Diagnosis. Wing with brown apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1 with basal extremities beyond vertical level of dmcu; basal extremities of brown apical spots on R2+3 and M1 beyond vertical level of spot on R4+5; apical spot on R2+3 nearly elliptical, apical spots on R4+5 and M1 narrow stripe–like. Abdomen pale yellow.

Description. MALE. Body length 5.9 mm, wing length 6.3 mm.

Head pale yellow. Frons yellow with a pair of pale brown median stripes extending to ocellar triangle, as long as wide and parallel–sided; ocellar triangle yellow; oc developed, nearly as long as anterior or. Gena about 1/5 height of eye. Antenna yellow, 1st flagellomere about 1.7 times as long as high; arista black plumose except pale brown base, with longest setula slightly shorter than height of 1st flagellomere. Proboscis yellow, with yellowish and blackish setulae; palpus yellow, with blackish setulae.

Thorax pale yellow with sparse grayish white pruinosity. Mesonotum with 0+3 dc, acr in 8 rows and prsc shorter than anteriormost dc. 1 anepst, 2 kepst. Scutellum yellow. Legs yellow, except tarsomeres 3–5 pale brown. Fore femur with 4 strong pv and 8 pd, and ctenidium with 13 short setae; fore tibia with 1 strong preapical ad and 1 short apv. Mid femur with 6 a and 1 app; mid tibia with 1 strong preapical ad, 10 short p and 3 strong apv. Hind femur with a row of weak av (only 3 apical setae distinct) and 1 preapical ad; hind tibia with 1 preapical ad and 1 short apv. Wing ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 19 – 33 ) hyaline, brown apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1 slightly separated, extending to tip of each vein; apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1 with basal extremities beyond vertical level of dm-cu; basal extremities of brown apical spots on R2+3 and M1 beyond vertical level of spot on R4+5; apical spot on R2+3 nearly elliptical, apical spots on R4+5 and M1 narrow stripe–like; a brown cloud on r-m and a brown spot constricted at middle on dm-cu; subcostal cell hyaline; costa with 2nd (between R1 and R2+3), 3rd (between R2+3 and R4+5) and 4th (between R4+5 and M1) sections in proportion of 3.3 mm: 0.9 mm: 0.6 mm; r-m at middle of discal cell; ultimate and penultimate sections of M 1 in proportion of 1.9 mm: 3.0 mm; ultimate section of CuA1 about 1/10 of penultimate. Halter pale yellow.

Abdomen pale yellow. Male genitalia ( Figs. 44–49 View FIGURES 44 – 49 ): protandrium semicircular; epandrium round apically with a deep subapical concavity in lateral view, with six pairs of dorsal setae; surstylus with a subuliform process, a subbasal tooth and several long setulae; hypandrium bar–like, hypandrial apodeme indistinct; gonopod very special, consisting of fan–shaped basal part and large elliptical apical part; aedeagus vase–shaped in ventral view, but narrow basally and broad apically in lateral view, consisting of a pair of ventral median teeth, a pair of triangular ventral processes, a pair of lateral teeth, a pair of triangular subapical processes and a pair of hook–like dorsoapical processes in lateral view; aedeagal apodeme very short.

FEMALE. Unknown.

Type material. Holotype 3 ( SYSU), CHINA, Yunnan Province: Mengla, 11. IV. 1990, Yong Shang.

Distribution. China (Yunnan).

Remarks. The new species is somewhat similar to Homoneura (Neohomoneura) diphylla Sasakawa from Vietnam in the following characters: wing with brown apical spots on R2+3, R4+5 and M1 slightly separated, extending to tip of each vein; a brown cloud on r-m and a brown spot on dm-cu; aedeagus with a pair of acuate dorsoapical process. But it can be separated from the latter by the wing having the basal extremity of the brown apical spot on R4+5 before the vertical level of the spot on R2+3; the knob of the halter being pale yellow; the abdomen being pale yellow without spots; the surstylus having one process; the gonopod consisting of fan–shaped basal part and large elliptical apical part; the aedeagus being vase–shaped in the ventral view. In H. (N.) diphylla , the basal

extremity of the brown apical spot on R4+5 is slightly beyond vertical level of spot on R2+3; the knob of the halter is pale brown; the abdominal tergites 4–6 have a brown oval median spot and the brown spot of the tergite 4 is smaller or even obscure; the surstylus has two processes; the gonopod is broad leaf–like, the aedeagus is nearly cylindrical in the ventral view ( Sasakawa, 2001).

Etymology. Latin, elliptica , meaning oval or round, referring to the gonopod being elliptical apically; a feminine adjective.
