A narrow ductus bursae with a very indistinct transition to the slender corpus bursae is characteristic for the female genitalia. Chortonoeca Hampson, 1918  differs in the longer ductus bursae and weakly modified segment VIII. Externally Coenochroa  species can be recognized by the head with distinct frontal process and usually uniformly light brown forewing with dark spot in the cell corner.
