Diagnosis. Anerastia is characterized by a stout gnathos with hook-shaped ventral process and with strongly enlarged lateral lobes, aedeagus with one straight and one ring-shaped cornutus and broad, flattened medially split uncus with short excavation on the posterior margin in the male genitalia. In the female genitalia papillae anales are subtriangular, unmodified, both pairs of apophyses are long, tergum VIII with distinct posterior plate and a signum is absent. Externally Anerastia species are characterized by light brown forewing, subcostal and some other veins more or less distinctly mottled with white, frons has a short medial hump.

Distribution. About seven species distributed worldwide ( Leraut 2014; Nuss et al. 2003 –2019). At least two species are reported from the Palaearctic region. One species is known from Ukraine.
