Onomaus pompeus Distant, 1904

Onomaus pompeus Distant, 1904c: 416 –417 (as new species, DV). Onomaus pompeus: Pathak 1969: 35 (description of male genitalia, fig. of head and pronotum); Carvalho & Gross 1979: 525 –526, 527 (redescription, DV, MG); Schuh 1995: 682 (catalogue), 2002 – 2013 (online catalogue).

Diagnosis. Head brown to reddish brown with a wide yellowish area on vertex (“semilunate” according to Carvalho & Gross, 1979). Eyes reddish brown with inner and posterior margins yellowish. Space between eyes posterior margin and pronotal collar inferior to eye width. First antennal segment elongate, orange-brown, base reddish tinged. Pronotal disk dark brown, collar, callosities, a semi-circular area behind callosities and an elongate, apically pointed medial yellowish stripe. Semi-circular area with a reddish brown medial spot. Clavus brown to dark brown. Corium translucent with brown areas. Embolium margins almost straight. Habitus in dorsal view Figs. 20 and 50 . Male genital structures Figs. 51–53 . INDIA: ARUNACHAL PRADESH: 4♂, 1♀, 10km south Hunli , 1597 m, 28°19’05.1”N, 95°47’ 38.5”E., 12.xi.2014, ex: Pilea sp., Yeshwanth H.M. leg. , 7♀, Tiwarigaow , 1085 m, 28°13’ 9”N, 95°47’ 38.5”E., 13.xi.2014, Yeshwanth H.M. leg . 8♂, 10♀, MANIPUR: Shirui , 2763 m, 25° 06’49.50’’N, 94° 26’ 48. 72’’ E., 22.viii.2014, Yeshwanth H.M. leg. ( UASB) .

Distribution. India (Assam, Arunachal Pradesh), Myanmar.

Remark: The analyzed specimens conforms to Carvalho & Gross (1979) redescription of O. pompeus by the even dark second antennal segment and medial stripe of scutellum but differ by the slightly concave anterior margin of corial triangular black area, a character state assumed diagnostic of O. coloratus Zheng & Liu, 1992 . The validity of this poorly known species closely related to O. pompeus should be analyzed more in more detail.
