Type species. Fustiserphus reticulatus Townes, 1981 ; by original designation.

This genus is currently known from in Australia, New Zeland and in both Americas ( Townes & Townes 1981). New Zealand representatives of Fustiserphus parasitise larvae of Oecophoridae (Lepidoptera) in Nothofagus forest, being found, however, in a variety of other habitats ( Early & Dugdale 1994). This genus was previously unknown in the palaeontological record.
