Family KOMOKIIDAE Tendal & Hessler, 1977 View in CoL
Species Lana neglecta Tendal & Hessler, 1977 View in CoL . Catalogue number: INV FOR178, INV FOR180. Figure 2 View FIGURE 2 .
Diagnosis. Free test of non-uniform branched tubules, without anastomosis or growth constraints, asymmetric or directional growth, rounded extremities, intertubular region without sediment; somewhat flexible, with a thin inner organic layer and a thicker outer layer of agglutinated clay particles ( Figure 2 View FIGURE 2 ). Holocene; North Pacific from 180 to 7,298 m; Equatorial Pacific from 3,270 to 4,438 m; South Pacific from 3,768 to 3,804 m; East Atlantic from 610 to 5,300 m; West Atlantic from 2,200 to 2,400 m; Equatorial Atlantic from 2,610 m; Caribbean from 1,100 to 5,656 m; Western Indian Ocean from 3,960 to 4,900 m ( Loeblich & Tappan 1988); South of the Colombian Caribbean.
Species Komokia multiramosa Tendal & Hessler, 1977 View in CoL . Catalogue number: INV FOR172, INV FOR177, INV FOR181. Figure 3.
Diagnosis. Arborescent test, up to 2 mm in diameter. Dichotomic branches at irregular intervals. Branching rapidly towards the periphery, commonly with four to six branching orders. All branches approximately equal in diameter, somewhat twisted but basically radiant. Wall with thin inner organic layer and thicker outer agglutinated layer of clay particles, grayish color, flexible. Holocene; North Pacific from 5,588 to 6,079 m; Caribbean from 5,220 to 5,650 m ( Loeblich & Tappan 1988). South of the Colombian Caribbean.
Species Ipoa fragila Tendal & Hessler, 1977 View in CoL . Catalogue number: INV FOR173. Figure 4.
Diagnosis. Arborescent, rounded test, irregular width tubes, giving forth a relatively small number of primary branches. Spaced peripheral branches radiate from the main trunk of the test. The diameter of the tubules decreases markedly with each branch. Non-septate tubes. Agglutinated wall of sand grains or clay particles and a thin organic layer. Holocene; North Pacific from 5,899 to 6,079 m; East Atlantic, 4,706 m; Caribbean from 5,220 to 7,950 m; West Indian Ocean 4,900 m (Modif. Loeblich & Tappan 1988). South of the Colombian Caribbean.
