This Malaysian species is newly recorded from Japan and Taiwan. It is very similar to S. indicus (Ramakrishna & Margabandhu) , which is widespread in India, Pakistan, Thailand, Papua New Guinea, Australia, Brazil, Jamaica and Trinidad, by having uniformly yellow slender body ( Figs. 23, 26 View FIGURES 18–26 ) but the latter species can be distinguished from by abdominal tergites with no microtrichia on posterior margins ( Mound, 2011; Ng & Mound, 2012). Male is unknown in Japan.

Specimens examined. JAPAN, Honshu: Ibaraki Pref., Yawara-mura, on side of the river Kokai-gawa: 23 females on leaves of Miscanthus sinensis [ Poaceae ], 25.vii.2008, M. Masumoto (TUA); 22 females on leaves of Miscanthus sinensis , 29.vii.2008, M. Masumoto (TUA). Kyushu: Kagoshima Pref., Yaku-shima Is., Senbironotaki Falls, 1 female on bamboo leaves, 10.iii.2000, T. Tsutsumi (FU). Ryukyus: Okinawa Pref., Ishigaki-jima Is., Takeda-rindou: 1 female on grass, 17.viii.1989, T. Nonaka & S. Okajima; 1 female on grass, 16.i.1991, S. Okajima (TUA); 6 females, host unknown, 28.iii.1998, T. Tsutsumi (FU). TAIWAN: Pintung Hsien, Kenting National Park, 1 female, 19.iii.1984, S. Okajima (TUA). nr. Taipei, Yangmingshan, 1 female, 27.iii.1993, S. Okajima (TUA).
