Acnemia Winnertz View in CoL View at ENA

Acnemia Winnertz 1863: 798 View in CoL . Type-species, Leia nitidicollis Meigen ( Johannsen 1909: 63) View in CoL .

A. flavicoxa Freeman 1951: 60 View in CoL , fig. 116 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: “ Chile ”. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 1 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The type series included only the male holotype. The holotype is in good condition and only the distal part of the abdomen has been removed. The labels are: “ Acnemia / flavicoxa [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to a separate acetate sheet]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “ Chile ” [handwriteen in a small, light blue piece of paper] // “ Acnemia / sp. [hw.] / F.W. Edwards / det. 1928 [pr] / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257818”.

A. fulvicollis (Philippi) 1865: 626 , pl. 24, fig. 11 (whole insect) ( Agaricobia ). Type-locality: Chile, Santiago, near Santiago. Ref.— Freeman 1951: 58, fig. 114 (♂ terminalia).

( Figure 2 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The reference to a specimen without type status here is exceptional. Philippi’s types, of species of Mycetophilidae mostly from species collected around the city of Santiago, have been lost. The NHM has a male and a female identified by Paul Freeman from sites more to the south (Marga-Marga and Casa Pangue). Our notion of identity of Acnemia fulvicollis comes from Freeman’s redescription based on these specimens.

A. funerea Freeman 1951: 59 View in CoL , fig. 115 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Bariloche. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 3 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The type series included only the male holotype. The holotype labels are: “ Acnemia / funerea [hw] /

Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to a pinned acetate sheet]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Bariloche. / 5.xii.1926.” //

“ Argentina: / Terr. Río Negro. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257817”.

A. vittata Freeman 1951: 59 View in CoL , fig. 274 (wing). Type-locality: Chile, Llanquihue , Casa Pangue. Holotype ♀, NHM.

( Figure 4 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The type series included only the female holotype. The holotype labels are: “ Acnemia / vittata [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to a pinned acetate sheet]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Casa Pangue. / 4– 10.xii.1926.” // “S. Chile: / Llanquihue Prov. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257816”.
