Allocotocera Mik View in CoL View at ENA

EURYCERA Dziedizcki 1885: 169 (preocc. Laporte 1833). Type-species, E. flava Dziedzicki View in CoL (mon.) = pulchela (Curtis). Allocotocera Mik 1886: 102 View in CoL (nom. nov. for Eurycera Dziedzicki ). Type-species, Eurycera flava Dziedzicki View in CoL (aut.) = pulchella View in CoL

(Curtis)

A. flavicoxa Freeman 1951: 51 View in CoL , figs. 102 (♂ terminalia), 275 (wing). Type-locality: Chile, Llanquihue , Casa Pangue. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 5 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The type series included the male holotype, fifteen male and seven female paratypes. The holotype labels are: “ Allocotocera / flavicoxa [hw] / Freeman. / HOLOTYPE ” [printed on red label]” // [male terminalia on a microslide attached to a pinned plastic stripe]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // “Casa Pangue. / 4–10.xii.1926.” // “S. Chile: / Llanquihue Terr. / F. & M. Edwards / B.M. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257840”. There are 12 male and seven female paratypes at the NHM, numbered BMNH(E) # 257841-59 .

A. glandularis Edwards 1940a: 453 View in CoL . Type-locality: Brazil, Santa Catarina, Nova Teutônia. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 6 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The type series included the male holotype, two male and three female paratypes, of which the holotype, one male and two female paratypes are at the NHM. Therefore , the reference to syntypes in the Neotropical catalogue of the family ( Papavero 1978: 48) is incorrect. The holotype labels are: “ Brasilien / Nova Teutonia / 27º 11’ S 52º 23’ W / Fritz Plaumann / 3.5.1938 ” [pr]” // “HOLO- / TYPE” [printed in black on a rounded label with red border]” // [male terminalia dissected, mounted on an acetate sheet] // “ Allocotocera / glandularis [handwritten] / F.W.Edwards 193[pr]4[hw]” // “ HOLOTYPE [pr] / Allocotocera / glandularis [hw] / det. J.E. Chainey 1996 [pr]” // “BMNH(E) # / 257870”. The abdomen of the holotype has been removed from the specimen; the distal half is mounted on an acetate sheet, while the basal half of the abdomen is glued to the base of the micropin. The three paratypes have collection numbers BMNH(E) # 257871-3 and are in good condition, the male with the terminalia dissected GoogleMaps .

A. nigricoxa Freeman 1951: 52 View in CoL , figs. 103–4 (♂ terminalia). Type-locality: Argentina, Río Negro, Lago Nahuel Huapí. Holotype ♂, NHM.

( Figure 7 View FIGURES 1–9 )

Notes. The type series included the male holotype, eight male and two female paratypes, of which a female paratype is not at the NHM. The labels with the holotype are: “ Allocotocera / nigricoxa [hw] / Freeman. 1927–63.” // “BMNH(E) # / 257860”. The paratypes are numbered BMNH(E) # 257861-9 .
