Riparia riparia (Linnaeus, 1758)

IDentificAtion. This species was observed flying over the Paraguay River together with resident species like Stelgidopteryx ruficollis (Vieillot, 1817) and Progne tapera (Vieillot, 1817) . We identified it as is a small swal- low, with a uniform brown upper and somewhat darker wings. Progne tapera is similarly colored and patterned but is considerably larger ( Ridgely and Tudor 2009).
