NOTES
Lecomte (1928a: 104) cited three collections from Annam in the protologue: Poilane 10375 from Dent du Tigre, Poilane 11202 from Dang co pat, and Poilane 1108 from Dangtri, all in Phanrang Province. Several sheets of Poilane 10375 and Poilane 11202 have been located at NY, P and SING. The collection Poilane 1108, held at P, is not a Diospyros , and none of the label data match in any way the protologue. We found, however, three sheets of Poilane 11018 at P, determined as Diospyros eugenii by Lecomte, with matching label data, and each annotated ‘11018 et non 1108’. Among the three gatherings, we designate here as the lectotype the specimen Poilane 10375 (P[P00721514]), which includes a detailed drawing of the male flower.
