Taxonomic notes

Over the years the status of Hypsugo Kolenati, 1856 has varied. Some, for exam- ple Horá … ek and Hanák (1985, 1986), Menu (1987) and most recently Hoofer and Van Den Bussche (2003) have treated it as a full genus, whilst others including Hill and Har- rison (1987) and Corbet and Hill (1992) have retained it as a subgenus of Pipi- strellus.
