One of the ticks of Micronesia with a relatively wide distribution is the swine tick, Amblyomma breviscutatum , reported from Palau, Guam, Northern Marianas Pohnpei, Kosrae, and the Marshalls. In has been found on pigs, cows, rats and humans ( Prowazek 1913, Schulze 1935, Kohls 1957, Jackson 1962, Joyce 1971). This tick was confirmed in 2008 as still being present on Guam.
