scientific name

Pionidae
status

Pionidae indet. (cf. Tiphys Koch, 1836 sp.?)

Records ( Table 2): No specimen of Tiphys spp. has been reported from benthos samples in Luxembourgian spring sites by Gerecke et al. (2005). E 7 1 larva, parasitic on chironomids, was attributed to the genus Tiphys .

Remarks: Since the investigated individual was not in good condition, a definitive contribution to a genus in the family Pionidae was impossible. The chetotaxy and some characters suggest that the specimen belongs to a genus known mainly from standing water.
