Xyleborus fulgens Schedl, 1975: 365 View in CoL .
Amasa fulgens (Schedl) View in CoL : Wood & Bright 1992: 683.
Remarks. Amasa fulgens was previously considered a synonym of Amasa resecta (Eggers, 1927) by Hulcr & Cognato (2013: 31). Smith et al. (2020a) considered this synonymy to be incorrect but did not formally recognize the species. Images of the holotype (NHMW) taken by J. Hulcr, and an image of a nontype specimen determined by Schedl and taken by WS, were examined. Amasa fulgens is clearly distinct from A. resecta and can be distinguished by the following characters ( A. fulgens given first): antennal club flat, without sutures (type 5) vs. antennal club flat with three sutures on anterior face (type 4); posterior face of protibiae without granules vs. posterior face of protibiae granulate; declivital interstriae densely setose, bearing 2–4 rows of semirecumbent hair-like setae vs. declivity glabrous.
Distribution. Papua New Guinea.
