Ambrosiophilus immitatrix ( Schedl, 1975) stat. res., comb. nov.
Xyleborus immitatrix Schedl 1975: 367 View in CoL .
Xyleborus imitatrix Schedl unjustified emendation ( Schedl 1980: 124).
Remarks. Images of the holotype (NHMW) were examined. The species was previously considered a synonym of Xyleborus judenkoi Schedl, 1959 ( Hulcr & Cognato 2013: 152). An image of an X. judenkoi paratype (NHMW) and a paratype (NHMUK) were examined. However, the species is distinctly different from X. judenkoi with A. immitatrix bearing tubercles along declivital interstriae 1 which are absent in X. judenkoi . The species has the characteristics of Ambrosiophilus given above for A. bispinosulus and is here transferred to that genus.
Schedl (1980) proposed an emendation of X. immitatrix to X. imitatrix but this act was unjustified in accordance with article 33.2.3 ( ICZN 1999) because Schedl only used the spelling immitatrix in the publication of the original description ( Schedl 1975).
Distribution. Papua New Guinea.
