Macrophiothrix elongata H. L. Clark, 1938: 292 , pl. 24, fig. 4.

Habitat: Under rocks in mixed subtidal sand and rock, coral reef base and mixed rock and sand tidal flat, 0–15 m ( Clark 1938; Clark & Bowen 1949; Clark 1968; Price 1981, 1983; Jones 1986; Khalegi et al. 2015; Pourvali 2015; Attaran Fariman et al. 2016).

Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman: Tis (16), Jinna Island (21), Tarut Bay (25), Kuwait (ibid.).

Indian Ocean: Appears not to have been reported outside the study area. Type locality is Persian Gulf ( Clark 1938).

Remarks: For differences between M. elongata and M. hirsuta cheneyi see under the latter species. A record of

M. elongata by Pourvali et al. (2014) may instead be M. hirsuta cheneyi , because on their photo, the arms are only 10 times as long as the disc diameter.
