Macrophiothrix sp. aff. hirsuta cheneyi ( Lyman, 1861)
Habitat: Under rock, from mixed rock and sand tidal flat, 0–3 m ( Price 1981, 1983).
Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman: Tarut Bay (25) (ibid.).
Indian Ocean: n/a
Remarks: Most likely, this single specimen was indeed M. hirsuta cheneyi and Price (1981, 1983) was overly cautious in his interpretation of differences. He stated that the material was damaged and therefore difficult to identify ( Price 1983).
