Material examined: Gulf of Oman, Iran, Tis, intertidal, endozoic in sponges, hand collected, January 2019, collector Yaser Fatemi, 20 spms [SMNH-178938].

Habitat: Shells and gravel, sand, clay, coral reef, 2–71 m ( Mortensen 1940; Clark & Bowen 1949; Price 1981, 1983; present study) ( Fig. 2D View FIGURE 2 ).

Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman: Kharg Island (1), Bushehr (2), Tis (16), Tarut Bay (25), Stiffe’s bank (28), Bahrain (ibid.).

Indian Ocean: Western Indian Ocean and Red Sea ( Clark & Rowe 1971), Chagos Isl. ( Clark & Taylor 1971), South Africa ( Clark & Courtman-Stock 1976; Olbers et al. 2019), Gulf of Mannar ( James 1988), Scattered Isl. ( Conand et al. 2013, 2016), Mascarene Isl. ( Boissin et al. 2016).

Remarks: This is the first record of Ophiactis savignyi from the Gulf of Oman.
