Habitat: Brown clay, soft gray sand and mud, 8–34 m ( Mortensen 1940; Price 1981).

Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman: Kharg Island (1), Bushehr (2), Farur Island (8), Hengam Island (9), Strait of Hormuz (33), Kuh-Mobarak (14), Jinna Island (21) and Tarut Bay (25) (ibid.).

Indian Ocean: Appears not to have been found in the Indian Ocean but A. obtecta is a recent migrant in the Mediterranean Sea ( Stöhr et al. 2010).
