Habitat: Clay, 31–70 m ( Mortensen 1940).

Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman: Jask (15), Hengam Island (9), Kuh-Mobarak (14) (ibid.).

Indian Ocean: Red Sea (A. M. Clark & Rowe 1971), Madagascar ( Cherbonnier & Guille 1978). Possibly a recent migrant in the Mediterranean Sea ( Streftaris et al. 2005).
