Measurements. Body length: 3.10–3.40 mm (mean value = 3.27 mm), width: 1.40–1.55 mm (mean 1.48 mm).
Description. Similar to nominotypical subspecies in general habitus. Usually slightly smaller; sides of elytra more curved, so pronoto-elytral angle more distinct than in nominotypical subspecies ( Figure 3D View Figure 3 ). Punctation on pronotum and elytra coarser and deeper. Distance between punctures about that of their diameter, in particular in basal half of elytra.
Male: dorsal surface shiny. Claws of fore tarsi broadened, strongly hooked. Median lobe of aedeagus in ventral view ( Figure 2H View Figure 2 ) more intensively tapering in distal half, apical part longer than in nominotypical subspecies, distinctly turned to right, apex very acute.
Female: microreticulation of elytra usually more distinct than in males so surface subopaque. Claws of fore legs thin, only slightly curved.
Habitat. Collected in gravel and under submerged leaves in small temporary streams.
Distribution. A subspecies which occurs in the Balkan Peninsula. Known from Albania, southern Bulgaria and Greece, including the islands of Euboea, Levkás, Samothráki and Thásos ( Figure 6 View Figure 6 ).
