Agriocoris flavipes ( Fabricius, 1803) View in CoL

Agriocoris Stål, 1866 View in CoL is a monotypic genus, and A. flavipes View in CoL is widely distributed ( Wygodzinsky 1948). In specimens examined from Costa Rica and Panama the head and pronotum coloration pattern differ slightly from those of Colombia ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 28 – 37 ). This variable chromatic pattern, as well as the variable shape of the humeral angles of the pronotum, was noted before by Wygodzinsky (1948). This species has been recorded from Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, French Guiana, Surinam, Brazil, and Peru (Champion 1899; Villiers 1971; Maldonado 1990). GilSantana et al. (2003) recorded Agriocoris View in CoL for the first time from Costa Rica and Bolivia, without giving any localities. Now, precise localities for Costa Rica, Colombia and Bolivia are provided, and for the first time the species is recorded also from Ecuador. In Colombia, it is restricted to lower elevations.
