Beharus cylindripes ( Fabricius, 1803) View in CoL

Beharus Amyot & Serville, 1843 View in CoL , is a monotypic genus described from Surinam ( Maldonado 1990) with additional records from Guyana, French Guiana, Colombia, and Brazil ( Wygodzinsky 1948; Bérenger et al. 1997; GilSantana et al. 2001). The species was redescribed by GilSantana et al. (2001). B. cylindripes View in CoL is recorded here from Venezuela and Peru for the first time. GilSantana et al. (2003) recorded the genus from Colombia, without giving precise localities, which are given here. The locality data of the Colombian specimens show that this species is not restricted to the Amazon basin. The specimen from Turbo (Antioquia) ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 28 – 37 ) was found associated with Ponerobia bipustulata View in CoL (see below) and A. ornatus View in CoL on the same tree species, a “cativo.” The Venezuelan specimen examined was also collected in association with Ponerobia bipustulata View in CoL specimens.
