Type species. Embia nobilis Gerstäcker, 1888 by original designation.
Diagnosis. Male of Clothoda are distinguished from other genera of Clothodidae as follows: terminalia with almost perfect symmetry; medial flap curled dorsally; medial sclerite of tergum 10 at best indistinctly cleft; epiproct small, inconspicuous.
Distribution. Neotropical region.
