Material in MHNG, Lamarck collection: 3 specimens MHNG INVE 51730 (ex MHNG 1098/32); 1098/32/1 : 52.5 mm; 1098/32/2 : 49.3 mm; 1098/32/3 : 46.5 mm. Locality on the label: Méditerranée .
Remarks: According to Rosalie de Lamarck, her father’s collection contained four specimens. G. Mermod noted that the specimen 1098/32/1 could be the one figured by Kiener, while the 1098/32/ 2 specimen could be the one measured by Lamarck, but we cannot be certain of these conclusions.
Current taxonomic position: Fusinus syracusanus ( Linnaeus, 1758) ; placed in Fusinus by Buzzurro and Russo (2007): 72, 178. Locality is the Mediterranean Sea. Lamarck (1822) recognized the priority of Linnaeus’ name.
