Type species. Subgeneric diagnosis. General colour shining black or brownish black. 1 or 2 orbitals. Postvertical seta absent. Two dorsocentral setae. Mid tibia of male with only minute setulae ventrally or with a double row of spinelike ventral setae. Mid femur with only a single basal ventral seta or with a double row of ventral setae. C slightly extended beyond R4+5. Sternite 5 of male usually with a posteromedial comb or setulose process. Sternite 8 of female large, not reduced. Gonostylus with outer lobe rectangular to convex lobate; inner lobe complex, usually with processes and spines.
