Diagnosis. This is the only included species. Venation without distinct nodal and apical lines of transverse veinlets; cell C2 about 4.8 times as long as wide; cell C3 more than 3 times as long as wide.
Description. Length of tegmen 19.3 mm, maximum width 8.9 mm. Branch RA with 6 terminals reaching to the margin, branch RP with 6 terminals reaching the margin. Stem M with 6 terminals reaching to the margin, 4 terminals of branch M1+2 and terminals M3 and M4 reaching to the margin. Branch CuA1a with 3 terminals reaching the margin; branch CuA1b with 4 and CuA2 with 2 terminals reaching the margin, respectively. Coloration: base of tegmen at level of basal cell darkened, costal area darkened, costal cell and radial cell with four darker spots, lighter area at level of stigmal area, darker spot on terminals of RA; three bigger and about 10 smaller spots on corium, greater dark spot slightly apicad of stem M forking, elongate spot towards apex of clavus, darker irregular band on membrane, second irregular darker area on apex of tegmen; claval vein Pcu with seven rounded spots along, claval vein A1 with four rounded spots along.
Etymology. Species name is derived from Latin ‘imperator’—emperor, and refers to the huge size of the specimen, the biggest among known Fulgoridiidae .
Age and occurrence. Middle Jurassic, Daohugou Lagerstätte, Ningcheng County, Inner Mongolia, China.
Material examined. Holotype, imprint of tegmen – part and counterpart, number CNU-HEM-2006266a, b; counterpart broken, then glued, deposited in the collection of State Key Laboratory of Insect Evolution and Environment, Capital Normal University, Beijing, China.
