( Figs. 1, 7 View FIGURES 1 – 12 , 13 View FIGURES 13 – 18 )

Psilochlorops clavitibia Duda, 1931: 168 View in CoL . Type –locality: Bolivia, Mapirí, Lorenzopata. Distr. – Bolivia. Refs. – Sabrosky & Paganelli, 1984: 39 (cat.).

Diagnosis. Scutum background and frons dark yellow; frontal triangle brownish, with one row of interfrontals; occiput dark, with fine setulae; hind tibiae dark and clavate.

Material examined. Holotype. Ƥ, Bolivia, Mapirí, 11.v.1903, Lorenzopata ( SNSD).

Rescription (based on Duda, 1931: 168). Total length, 3.25–3.5 mm. Wing length, 3.26 mm.

Female. Head ( Figs. 1, 7 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ). Head light brown, slightly wider than thorax, rather broader than long in dorsal view, rather wider than high in lateral view; frontal triangle dark brown, with a transversal suture, margins at most gently curved, not reaching anterior margins of frons; occiput dark slightly arched, with fine setulae; gena about 0.15 eye height; postgena about 0.6 eye height; eye rounded, long axis diagonal; clypeus light brown; labella reduced, yellow; palpus yellow. Antennae reddish-yellow; pedicel short; first flagellomere entirely yellow, shorter than wide, slightly angular dorsally; arista dark brown, erect, about 2/3 length of frons, with dark setulae, thicker at base, thinner towards apex. One row of interfrontal bristles on frontal triangle; postocellars parallel; inner and outer verticals well-developed; one row of dark setulae at lower margin of gena; vibrissa thin. Thorax ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 18 ). Scutum less than twice as long as broad, yellow, with the five brownish stripes joined at apex and basis; with fine yellow setosity, mostly black, with a yellow-brown median longitudinal stripe, thinner at anterior and posterior ends, reaching anterior and posterior ¼ of scutum. Scutellum yellow, truncated, length half the width, arched, elongate. Pleura yellow; post-pronotum without a mark, no bristles; dark markings along notopleuron, anepisternum and katepisternum; anterior spiracle with a brown spot. Halter entirely dark yellow. Legs yellow; hind tibia claviform dark brown; distal half of tarsi dark brown; tibial organ oval, short, brownish. Wing. Hyaline. Costal sections with sector 2 about as long as sector 1, almost twice length of sector 3; sector 3 slightly longer than sector 4. R2+3, R4+5 and M1+2 straight; R4+5 and M1+2 slightly divergent; r-m and dm-cu paralell, distant each other 2.2 as long as dm-cu. Abdomen. Long, slender, depressed, shiny, with long and thin setae; tergite 1 yellow, other tergites dark brown. Tergites 2 and 3 long, tergites 4 and 5 shorter, cerci dark brown; sternites yellow.

Male. Unknown.

Comments. The translation of the original description was helpful to complete the redescription of this species. The two yellow spots of the scutum seem to correspond to the extension of the dark stripes covering almost the entire mesonotum. It is worth noting that the type was assumed by Duda (1931) to be a male, but it is actually a female, something to be corrected in catalogues..
