Type species: Campoplex tenuiventris Gravenhorst, 1829 ; original designation.
Diagnosis. Eye indented to strongly indented opposite antennal socket; clypeus usually convex but sometimes truncate apically; temple usually receding immediately behind eyes but sometimes not so ventrally; malar space 0.25–0.85× basal width of mandible; mesopleural suture, or at least its median 0.3, impressed as a sharp groove; propodeum moderately long with a median longitudinal groove shallow to deep; propodeal spiracle circular to elongate oval; tarsal claw pectinate; areolet present with a short to long stalk; nervellus intercepted or not intercepted, vertical or slanting; suture separating first metasomal sternite from its tergite lying at or above mid-length of the segment; ovipositor short, about as long as the apical depth of metasoma.
