Anacroneuria marlieri Froehlich, 2001 View in CoL
( Figs. 11–15 View FIGURES 11 – 15 , 36–45 View FIGURES 36 – 45 )
Anacroneuria marlieri Froehlich View in CoL , in Ribeiro– Ferreira & Froehlich, 2001: 191, Figs. 12–15 View FIGURES 11 – 15 (partim); Froehlich, 2003:130, Figs. 1–3 View FIGURES 1 – 5 .
Diagnosis. This species is characterized by being light in color, but having darkly pigmented lateral areas of the pronotum, producing a wide pale stripe medially. The aedeagus has a median projection at its apex and lateral lobes of the subgenital plate of the females are longer than the paramedian ones.
Redescription. Neotype male (present designation). A neotype is being designated here because the male holotype and one of the only paratype females were destroyed ( Froehlich 2003). The remaining two female paratypes have subsequently been determined as A. amazonica Froehlich (Froehlich 2003) .
General coloration light yellow in life to whitish (in alcohol). Body length 9.2 mm long, excluding antennae and cerci ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ). Head length 1.2 mm long, width 1.4 mm wide ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ). Frons light yellow with inconspicuous spots of the same color as integument just behind antennae and anterior to ocelli. Ocelli separated by one times their width; scape, pedicel, and flagellum dark yellow; maxillary and labial palpi uniformly dark yellow. Pronotum ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ) light yellow with distinct brown lateral stripe ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ). Meso– and metanotum dark yellow. Coxae, trochanters and femora light yellow, apex of femora ringed with black dorsally; tibiae light yellow with a small black spot distally. Fore– and hingwings with some veins darker than membrane ( Figs. 14–15 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ). Abdomen light yellow; cerci light yellow with lateral bristles longer; sternum nine wider than long with longer lateral bristles and slightly rounded posterior margin ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ); hammer length approximately 0.1 mm, conical in ventral view, flattened in lateral view ( Figs. 37, 38 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ); paraproct with apical spiniform bristles and inconspicuous subapical denticle ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ). Aedeagus with median projection on apex. Penial armature with hooks short, folded slightly for low ( Figs. 40–42 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ).
Female. Body length 9.4 mm long, excluding antennae and cerci ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 – 15 ); scape and pedicel lighter in color; pronotum with slightly lighter lateral stripe. Sternum eight with four lobes; sublateral notch slightly deeper than median one; lateral lobes larger than paramedial ones ( Fig. 43 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ). Sternum nine with posterior margin slightly concave, submedian bristles denser, projecting toward anterior margin ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ). Vaginal sclerite ( Fig. 45 View FIGURES 36 – 45 ) membranous.
Nymph. Unknown.
Egg. Unknown.
Variations. Males vary in body length 6.7–9.2 mm; head color light yellow to pale yellow; anterolateral frons light to dark yellow; head 0.9–1.3 mm long, 1.2–1.4 mm wide; anterior wing 8.2–11.1 mm long, 2.4–3.2 mm wide; posterior wing 6.7–7.4 mm long, 3.0– 3.4 mm wide,. Females vary in body length 9.1–14.6 mm; anterior wing length 11.7–14.4 mm, width 3.7–4.5 mm; posterior wing 9.2–13.3 mm long, 4.1–5.9 mm wide.
Remarks. See remarks for A. minuta for comparison with other species.
Distribution. BRAZIL: Amazonas (Manaus, Novo Airão, Barcelos, Humaitá); Pará (Serra Norte) Maranhão (Imperatriz); Mato Grosso (Chapada dos Guimarães).

Condition of Neotype. Dissected terminalia in microtube in glycerine, specimen in Eppendorf centrifuge tube, both stored in alcohol in same vial.
Note. This species was described from four specimens: one male Holotype and three female paratypes. The Holotype male and one of the female paratypes were lost according to Froehlich (2003) and the remaining two females were described as A. amazonica Froehlich (Froehlich 2003) . The new female associated with A. marlieri is a common species in RFAD.
