HOLOTYPE: AMNH 220057 About AMNH , male, collected on Shortland Island , 07.05S, 155.45E (Times Atlas), Solomon Islands, on 13 December 1927, by Rollo H. Beck on the Whitney South Sea Expedition (no. 29941). GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: The AMNH number of the holotype was cited in the original description and the range was given as Shortland, Choiseul, Bougainville, and Buka islands. Paratypes are: Choiseul Island , males, AMNH 220050–220054 About AMNH , females, AMNH 220055 About AMNH , 220056 About AMNH , 221931–221933 About AMNH ; Shortland Island , males, AMNH 220058–220073 About AMNH , females, AMNH 220074–220080 About AMNH ; Bougainville Island , males, AMNH 221934–221950 About AMNH , females, AMNH 221951–221959 About AMNH ; Buka Island , males, AMNH 221960 About AMNH , 221961 About AMNH , females, AMNH 221962–221964 About AMNH . Mayr and Diamond (2001: 396) did not recognize exiguus, synonymizing it with the nominate subspecies.
