HOLOTYPE: AMNH 337641 About AMNH , adult male, collected on Maré Island , 21.30S, 168.00E ( USBGN, 1974a), Loyalty Islands, New Caledonia, on 8 November 1937, by Lindsay Macmillan (no. 50) on the Whitney South Sea Expedition. GoogleMaps

COMMENTS: Salomonsen gave the AMNH number of the holotype in the original description. Other specimens collected by Macmillan on Maré are paratypes: males, AMNH 337637–337640 About AMNH , 337642 About AMNH ; females, AMNH 337643 About AMNH , 337644 About AMNH .

Macmillan (vol. DD, p. 96, Maré Island fieldnotes and log, unpublished journal of the Whitney South Sea Expedition, Archives, Department of Ornithology, AMNH) noted that he was on the plateau and coastal plain east of Tedine on 8 August 1937. Tedine, now Tadine or Tadinou, is at 21.33S, 167.52E (USBGN, 1956).
