Type material. Holotype ( EUMJ): male, “ PHILIPPINES Mt. Polis, 1900m Ifugao Prov., Luzon June, 4, 5, 1977 M. Sato leg.”, genit. s. no. HY 803. Paratypes ( EUMJ): 2 Males, “ PHILIPPINES Kinakin, 1050m Ifugao Prov., Luzon June, 3, 1977 M. Sato leg.”

Description. Male. Body ( Fig. 13 View FIGURE 13 B) oval, convex dorsally, shining, closely covered with yellowish-white setae throughout. Coloration of body blackish-brown; antennae, mouthparts, and legs yellowish-brown, except for infuscated femora.

Head moderate in size, dorsal surface almost flat, granulated, emarginate in front margin. Eyes moderate in size, prominent; the distance between eyes about 2.0 times as long as the maximum diameter of an eye. Antennae relatively short. Pronotum granulated as on head; front margin almost straight in dorsal aspect; lateral margin gently arcuate; antero- and postero-lateral corners obtuse; PW/PL 2.34. Scutellar shield subtriangular, finely punctate. Elytra oval, widest at the middle, finely and densely punctate; apices rectangular; EL/EW 1.25; EL/PL 4.69; EW/PW 1.60; TL/EW 1.52.

Caudal margin of sternite VII ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 A) arcuate. Tergite VIII ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 B) lightly sclerotized, trapezoidal, bearing short setae and spines along posterior margin, with a pair of long and slender apodemes protruding from near antero-lateral corners; sternite VIII ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 C) well sclerotized, Y-shaped, relatively long; tergite IX ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 D) lightly sclerotized in lateral part, consisting of a pair of hemitergites; sternite IX ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 E) well sclerotized, Ushaped, slender, pointed at apices, bearing minute serrations in apical 1/5. Tegmen ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 F) long, well sclerotized, Y-shaped, bifid in apical 1/3; proximal part slightly expanded antero-laterally, anterior margin concave; parameres covered with short spines in apical part, pointed at apex. Penis ( Fig. 15 View FIGURE 15 G, H) well sclerotized, shorter than tegmen; parameroids obtuse at apex, finely punctate, strongly expanded laterally in proximal 1/3; pala short, subparallelsided, arcuate in basal margin; trigonium gently curved ventrally, somewhat pointed at apex.

Female. Unknown.

Measurements. Male (n = 1): TL 1.82 mm; PW 0.75 mm; PL 0.32 mm; EW 1.20 mm; EL 1.50 mm.

Distribution. Philippines (Luzon Isl.).

Remarks. This species is related to Ypsiloncyphon guamensis sp. n. and Y. panayensis sp. n. in the shapes of tergite XI, tegmen and penis. It differs from them by lacking keels in the apical part of sternite IX.

Etymology. The species is named after the type locality.
