Diagnosis. TL about 1.4–3.6 mm, but most species are small (<2.0 mm). Shape of body oval to oblong. Antennae normal, shorter than TL. Coloration variable, yellowish brown to black. Mandibles symmetrical. Gular sutures not attached at anterior margin of gula; subgenal ridges connecting with ridges running near mandibular articulation (Zwick 2013). Sternite VIII reduced, often Y-shaped. Sternite IX large/reduced, V- or U-shaped, symmetrical/ asymmetrical. Tegmen Y-shaped, long/short. Penis symmetrical/asymmetrical, elongate; trigonium well developed, projecting postero-ventrally; parameroid developed, longer than trigonium, consisting of one plate in most species, paired in some species.

Remarks. This genus is subdivided into three species groups ( Ruta 2007; Klausnitzer 2009). In the present paper, I follow this concept of the species groups, and add one species group. Immature stages, larval habitat, and biology are unknown.
