Flowering time: — February–April.

Habitat: — Open forest, stony places, amoung macchie, edge of fields, steppe, Paliurus sp. pl. scrub, 30–1450 m.

Distribution: — East Mediterranean (mt.) element. Turkey (North-west Anatolia, Turkey in Europe), Italy ( Govaerts 2015).

Note: — Gagea longifolia Lojacono (1908: 133) was published as illegitimate name, then typified by Peruzzi & Tison (2005), who also published a photo of the lectotype. Hence, a replaced synonym was proposed, namely Gagea lojaconoi (Peruzzi 2008: 145) . Tison et al. (2013) excluded the presence of G. chrysantha (a narrow endemic to Sicily: Peruzzi & Tison 2005, 2007, Peruzzi et al. 2008b, 2009, Tison et al. 2013) in Turkey and stated that Turkish populations might be referred as G. amblyopetala Boissier (1846: 107) or G. lojaconoi (Kayıkçı et al. 2015) . The samples belonging to G. chrysantha species group in the Flora of Turkey were confirmed as G. lojaconoi . The latter species differs from G. chrysantha by flatly subtrihedral in outline with a slightly canaliculate adaxial side, a slightly convex abaxial side, with 3 v-arranged bundles, becoming fistulose of basal leaves, two lowest cauline leaves alternate, corymbose inflorescence with 3–12 flowers, perigone segments elliptic, acute to obtuse (in G. chrysantha , adaxial side of basal leaves distinctly canaliculate and with 3–5(–7) bundles arranged in a plan, never fistulose, two lowest cauline leaves opposite, cymose inflorescence with 1–4 flowers, perigone segments oblanceolate, obtuse) (Kayıkçı et al. 2015).
