Stenatkina moliensis View in CoL sp. nov. ( Figs 17–30 View FIGURES 17 – 30 , 56–67 View FIGURES 56 – 67 , 95 View FIGURES 93 – 98 )
Description. Length of males 6.7–7.1 mm, females 8.5–8.8 mm.
Coloration. Head, thorax and forewing black in dorsal view. Dorsum with longitudinal interrupted yellow stripe from crown to apex of scutellum, but indistinct in males ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ). In females, pronotum with two or three yellow spots near lateral margins. Forewing with hyaline band near costal margin, and in females often with yellow stripes or spots on basal half of clavus, one-third and two-third of corium, basal and median of inner margin; in males those markings not clear. Face with upper portion black, other portions and sternum yellowish-white. Abdominal sternites yellowish-white. Legs mostly yellowish-white, with tibiae and tarsi of prothoracic legs infuscate and tarsal apex of all legs black brown.
External features. Crown slightly curved upward in females. Head well produced, anterior margin angulate; median length of crown distinctly longer than interocular width; with longitudinal fovea between ocelli, and between ocelli and eyes; ocelli located on imaginary line between anterior eye angles; lateral frontal sutures extending onto crown, attaining ocelli; frontoclypeus convex; muscle impressions distinct; transclypeal suture obscure medially. Pronotum as broad as head, posterior margin with subtriangular concavity; mesonotum with surface of scutellum slightly convex, transverse depression nearly straight. Forewing with apical membrane indistinct, with four apical cells, base of second cell more proximal than base of third in males, base of second and third cell aligned transversely in females. Hindleg with femoral setal formula 2:1:0.
Male genitalia. Pygofer ( Fig. 23 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ), in lateral view, with posterior margin broadly convex; with macrosetae on posterior and ventral margins; ventral margin without process. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ) produced posteriorly farther than pygofer, progressively narrower toward apical portion, dorsally curved along apical half; surface with longitudinal uniseriate macrosetae on median portion and short microsetae on outer lateral margin. Aedeagus ( Fig. 25 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ) with basal half of shaft curved ventrally and apical half straightly produced posteriorly; preatrium with base appressed to median portion of paraphyses, apical half separated. Paraphyses ( Fig. 26 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ) S-shaped, articulation joint to aedeagus slightly expanded; apical portion with long slender process, in ventral view, with pair of curved processes ( Figs 27 and 28 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ). Connective ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ) broadly Y-shaped, stalk short. Style ( Fig. 30 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ) with basal half straight, apical half curved, apex slightly furcated.
Female genitalia ( Figs 56–67 View FIGURES 56 – 67 ). The features of the ovipositor are similar to those of Stenatkina angustata (Young) . However, the abdominal sternite VII ( Fig. 56 View FIGURES 56 – 67 ), in ventral view, is longer than broad, with the posterior margin forming two distinct lateral lobes and an inconspicuous median lobe. Other features similar to S. angustata .
Etymology. The specific epithet, moliensis , refers to the type locality.
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Remarks. This species is similar to Stenatkina angustata (Young) in appearance ( Figs 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 16 ), but it differs in having the subgenital plate broader ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ) and the apex of the paraphyses with a pair of processes ( Figs 26–28 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ). In addition, males usually have few spots and stripes in S. moliensis ( Figs 17–19 View FIGURES 17 – 30 ), but distinct spots and stripes are present in both males and females of S. angustata ( Figs 1–4 View FIGURES 1 – 16 ).
Material examined. Holotype, male, China, Yunnan Province, Ruili County, Moli, Alt. 770m, 15 June 2009, coll. Yang Zai-hua and Li Bin. Paratypes: 2 males, 2 females, same data as holotype.
