Head densely punctured, clypeus, inner orbit, and postocellar area with visible interspaces, narrower than diameter of punctures, microsculptured; punctures on labrum minute and sparse; mesonotum densely punctured, with interspaces on posterior of prescutum, and middle of scutum as long as or slightly broader than diameter of punctures, without microsculpture, shiny; interspaces on middle of anterior slope of mesoscutellum 2 × diameter of punctures, shiny, other area of mesoscutellum densely punctured without interspaces; posttergite shiny; parapsides with large and sparse punctures and dense microsculpture; metascutellum with anterior slope shiny and posterior slope densely punctured; metapostnotum and parapsides microsculptured; middle and upper of mesepisternum densely and coarsely punctured, venter with large and shiny interspaces between small and sparse punctures; anterior corner of venter with a small shiny patch; anepimeron coarsely punctured, katepimeron microsculptured, posterior shiny; metepisternum with upper densely punctured, mat, and venter sparsely punctured, shiny; basin of metepimeron shiny, margin of basin microsculptured, dorsum of metepimeron with large punctures and posterior corner shiny. abdominal tergites microsculptured, middle and lateral edges of 1st abdominal tergite densely punctured ( Fig 7 View FIGURE 7 l), 3rd to 8th tergites punctured.

Hairs on dorsum of head straight, as long as diameter of lateral ocellus, Hairs on mesopleuron 0.9 × as long as diameter of lateral ocellus. Clypeus flat, anterior margin truncate; malar space as long as transverse diameter of median ocellus; shortest distance between eyes below antennal sockets in front view 1.1 × as long as eye height; middle fovea broad and shallow; interocellar furrow narrow and deep, postocellar furrow broad and shallow; postocellar area 1.6 × as broad as long, obviously lower than top of ocelli, middle weakly elevated; lateral furrows deep, nearly straight, divergent posteriorly; head behind eyes 0.8 × length of eye in dorsal view; curved laterally and then convergent posteriorly; genal carina sharp, complete. Antenna shorter than head, thorax and 1st and 2nd tergites together, as long as vein C, 2nd antennomere 1.3 × as long as broad, relative length of 3rd to 4th antennomeres as 1.6, 5th to 8th antennomeres hardly compressed, not enlarged, inner and outer sides of 6th to 8th antennomeres with weak furrows, 7th antennomere about 2.2 × as long as broad. Middle furrow of prescutum shallow; mesoscutellum obviously elevated, hardly higher than scutum. Metabasitarsus 6.5 × as long as broad, about 1.3 × length of following 3 tarsomeres combined, hind inner tibial spur 0.5 × length of metabasitarsus. Pulvilli of hind tarsus weakly developed, 1st pulvillus 0.7 × basal breadth and 0.5 × apical breadth of metabasitarsus, distance between basal two pulvilli 2.6 × length of 2nd pulvillus. Ovipositor sheath as long as middle tibia, exposed part of apical sheath about 1.3 × as long as broad; apical sheath 1.4 × length of basal sheath. Lancet with 16 serrulae ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 i), middle serrulae each with 8–10 distal fine teeth ( Fig. 9 View FIGURE 9 v).

Male. Length, 10.5 mm ( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 f, 5j). Similar to female in structure and color, but pronotum and legs black, fore and middle femora black with anterior of apical 0.3 to 0.4 orange brown, 2nd and 3rd abdominal sternites yellowish white; malar space linear, 0.2 × transverse diameter of median ocellus ( Fig. 7 View FIGURE 7 m); head in front view with lower interocular distance 0.8 × eye height; head behind eyes 0.5 × eyes in length in dorsal view, curved in middle and narrowing posteriorly. Genitalia as in Figs 10 View FIGURE 10 s, 10t.

Variation. The second abdominal tergite of one female is largely reddish brown. This was described as S. semipicta fasciata Malaise, 1945 .

Specimens examined. MYANMAR: Lectotype of Siobla semipicta (hereby designated) ♀, “ N. E. BURMA, Kambaiti, 7000ft, 29/5, R. MALAISE”; “ Typus ”; “ Siobla semipicta Malaise det. 1936”;”NHRS-HYME 000005296”; “ Lectotype, Siobla semipicta Malaise, 1945 , Design Niu G. 2012” (NRHS).

Paralectotypes of Siobla semipicta : (Taeger, pers. comm..): In the NRHS were four females under S. semipicta . One of these specimens fits the description of S. semipicta fasciata and is considered to be the holotype of the latter nominal taxon. The remaining 3 syntypes show a distinct variability regarding the abdominal coloration as noted by Malaise. 1♀, same data as the lectotype but 10/6, NHRS-HEVA 000001553; 1♀, same data as the lectotype but 9/6, NHRS-HEVA 0 0 0 0 0 1554 (both NHRS); 1♀, same data as the lectotype but 29/5 (BMNH).

Holotype of Siobla semipicta fasciata : ♀, "N.E. BURMA Kambaiti 7000 ft. 15/5 R. Malaise"; " Paratypus "; " Siobla semipicta n. sp. Malaise det. 1936"; "NHRS-HEVA 000001552".

Paralectotypes of Siobla atra : 1♂, N. E. BURMA, Kambaiti, 7000ft, 24/5, R. MALAISE (HYME-NHRS 000005305); 1♂ same data but 8/5; 1 ♂ same data but 14/5; 4 ♂ same data but 15/5; 3 ♂ same data but 16/5; 4 ♂ same data but 17/5; 2 ♂ same data but 29/5; 1♂ same data but 1/6; 1♂ same data but 4/6; 1♂ same data but 5/6; 1♂ same data but 9/6; 1♂ same data but 10/6 (NHRS-HEVA 000001608- NHRS-HEVA 000001629).

Other specimens: 21 #♂m from Kambaiti, leg. Malaise (details not recorded).

CHINA: Yunnan: 7♀ 53♂, Xiaoheishan, Longling, Yunnan, E.98º45.574′, N.24º41.713′, 2009-VI-2, Wei Meicai, Niu Gengyun, Li Zejian; 4♂, Yaojiaping, Lushui, Yunnan, E.98.710º, N. 25.975°, 2550m, 2009-VI-6, Xiao Wei, Zhong Yihai; 4♂, Gaoligongshan, Longling, Yunnan, E.98º46.062′, N.24º49.700′, 2145m, 2009-VI-2, Zhong Yihai; 4♂, Houqiaozhen, Tengchong, Yunnan, E.98º12.665′, N.25º21.990′, 2196m, 2009-VI-1, Zhong Yihai, Xiao Wei.

Distribution. China (Yunnan); Myanmar.

Remarks. The female of Siobla semipicta Malaise, 1945 is slightly similar to the female of S. atra Malaise, 1945 , and therefore Malaise misidentified the males of semipicta as atra . See the key above for the differences between the two species. S. semipicta is also quite similar to S. punctata ( Cameron, 1899) of Siobla grahami group in body color but differs from it in the dense punctures on the dorsal side of mesoscutellum.
